John M. Huddle
Founding Partner

Mr. Huddle is the founder of The Global Law Group, PLC. Prior to establishing this firm, Mr. Huddle formed and served as Chairman of the International Practice Group of one of the largest law firms in Virginia, and he was a shareholder and Director in that firm.

Mr. Huddle serves as general counsel to a wide variety of domestic and foreign technology, manufacturing and service companies. Careful, pro active planning and creative, cost-effective legal strategies are the hallmarks of his service to his clients. His years of experience are invaluable in anticipating a client’s needs, and he works closely with experts from other disciplines to ensure that his clients receive superior, prompt and cost-effective legal services.

Experience:

For nearly 20 years, Mr. Huddle has been engaged in a corporate and transactional practice, heavily concentrated in international transactions and trade matters. He has extensive experience in particular as lead counsel in:

• Complex international and domestic transactions, including:
  • distribution, sales and licensing arrangements for goods and technology
  • joint ventures and strategic alliances
  • mergers and acquisitions
  • off-shore manufacturing arrangements
  • software, trademark and patent licensing
  • global intellectual property protection programs
  • business formation and financing for foreign and domestic clients
• U.S. Customs, import and export regulatory compliance, including
  • conducting legal audits
  • developing compliance programs
  • minimization of import duties though utilization of foreign trade zones and subzones
  • NAFTA and Non-NAFTA country of origin and marking rules
  • prior disclosure and enforcement counsel
• General counsel to a wide variety of domestic and international businesses and individuals
  

Professional Activities:

Mr. Huddle is a leader in legal, business and community affairs in the Commonwealth of Virginia, including:

• Chairman, International Practice Section of the Virginia State Bar (Board Member 1994-present);
• Advisory Board Member, Radford University's International Trade Center of Western Virginia (1995-present)
• President and Board member of the International Trade Association of Western Virginia (1995-2002)
• Virginia Chamber of Commerce, World Trade Conference Committee member (1994-present)
• Two successive gubernatorial appointments to the World Trade Alliance of the Blue Ridge, a Virginia State agency created to promote international trade throughout the Blue Ridge Region of Virginia (Chairman, 1995-2001)
• Member, Japan-Virginia Society (2000-present)
• Member, Virginia State Bar International Practice, Business Law, Antitrust Law, and Corporate Counsel Practice Sections
  

Mr. Huddle lectures frequently on legal issues for a variety of business and legal organizations, including the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh and Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council, T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, U.S. Department of Commerce, Virginia State Bar, Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Virginia Economic Developer’s Association, Virginia Society of CPAs, Virginia Tech, International Business Assistance Center of Radford University, and various other colleges, regional and local international trade associations and other groups.
